Word from Monica Mora:
First we would like to thank you for your continuous love and support. Words cannot describe the pain we all feel for the loss of Luis Mora who was my father. Today marks a month of his passing and it still doesn't feel real. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, colleague, and mentor to so many.
For those of you who have kept up with our family on Facebook, you would know that he was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in January 2016 and passed away in July due to a result of a chemo treatment he was given. For those of you who don't know, the lymphoma was a result of a medicine he took for his Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is a chronic inflammatory disorder affecting many joints, including those in the hands and feet. My father had suffered from RA for 10 years. There is no cure for RA which is why my father had tried many medicines in hopes of finding something that would help his pain. Thankfully his doctors stumbled upon Humira. Humira gave him the ability to live day to day like us who don't struggle with joint pains. It gave him the opportunity to experience life instead of being bed ridden with pain that could have crippled his body. It gave our family the incredible opportunity to keep him around longer and truly enjoy the love he always gave. Unfortunately, it is also the medicine that gave my father Hodgkins Lymphoma. The doctors prognoses looked extremely positive when he was diagnosed and if you know my father, this made him even more positive of a man. "Life is Good" as he would say, no matter how much pain he was in. June 22nd my father walked out of Kennestone hospital able to say he beat cancers butt! But he also walked out with a severe cough that took him right back to the hospital June 27th where we would later find out that his lungs could no longer function on their own due to bleomycin. Bleomycin is a chemotherapy treatment whose side effects can include inflammation of the lungs. Which unfortunately took our beloved fathers life.
As you can see, we would like to bring attention to the root of it all, Rheumatoid Arthritis. Would love your support in raising awareness and donating to find a cure for this awful disease.
