THE STORY:

The Lumber and Lace Ball is being organized by a group of young, active community volunteers who believe the assistance provided by Hospice is invaluable and poorly understood by Whatcom County’s younger generation. The Ball will be an annual community event with live entertainment, beverages and appetizers, various activities and of course dancing (and some dance instruction for those of us who don't know how). Our goal is to create a relaxed, fun atmosphere through which to educate younger Bellingham generations about Hospice and its importance to our community.

All revenues from the Ball will be donated to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation. Although the Lumber and Lace Ball is not an official Foundation event, the Foundation has been very supportive of our efforts. Whatcom Hospice provides our community with compassionate end-of-life medical care and support services to terminally ill patients and their families. Hospice never denies any patient services because of an inability to pay. The impact of Hospice is one that often goes unnoticed.

To ensure the success of this event, we are seeking donations from local businesses and members of the community. Any support offered is appreciated. Generally we are hoping for donations of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments (no hard liquor), food for appetizers, decorations, silent auction items and/or monetary contributions. In the effort to make this ball beneficial to both Hospice and our contributors, incentives will be offered based on donation level.
