Luna's Seizure Alert Training
Organized by: Jess
My fiancee had his first seizure at 11 months old. This started his lifelong struggle with Epilepsy. He struggled all throughout school due to his countless seizures. At 17 years of age, he made the difficult decision of having brain surgery to hopefully eliminate the seizures. He had a small part of his left temporal lobe removed. After months of recovery, relearning to walk, talk, etc, he was finally able to enjoy his new seizure free life. He volunteered as a firefighter, and did EMT work as well. Five years he was seizure free. When his seizures slowly started coming back, he had to give up his lifelong dream of firefighting. Since, the seizures have progressively worsened. He is rarely able to leave home on his own. He has fallen down our stairs numerous times. In fact. he has fallen and hit his head so many times, often coming around alone and unsure of where he is. He often has severe memory loss due to his seizures, unable to remember home, his name, and me, his fiancee. A few months ago we made the decision to get a puppy, Luna, with the intention of getting her trained as a Seizure alert dog. However, the training costs $10,000, money we do not have. Please help us so Chris can finally regain some of that independence he once had, and a companion that will be by his side at all times.
