Strengthen, Heal & Hope

Lutheran Family Services walks with the vulnerable, through services that heal, strengthen, and provide hope.

Founded in 1948 as an adoption placement agency, LFSRM offers a variety of programs including: international and domestic adoption, birthparent counseling, foster care and family therapy services, older adult care management services, resettlement services to refugees and asylees, child abuse prevention programs, response to local natural disasters, and teen pregnancy prevention education. LFSRM is accredited to provide basic legal immigration services for documented aliens and LFSRM is one of the largest private foster care providers in the state.  The Refugee & Asylee Programs are ranked second in size out of 24 affiliate offices in the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services refugee resettlement network and is recognized as a the largest and a leading refugee resettlement agency in the Rocky Mountain region.

The Refugee & Asylee Programs

Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains, the largest refugee resettlement agency in the Rocky Mountain region, serves more than 1,200 clients from more than 20 countries annually through a variety of services. Since 1979, the program’s goal is to promote refugee and asylee success through services that heal, strengthen and provide hope. As the largest resettlement agency in Colorado, the program offers housing placement, case management, health and employment services in addition to school programming, youth success coaching and intensive case support. In addition to a linguistically and culturally diverse staff, the refugee and asylee program utilizes a strong network of volunteers, churches and organizations to provide hands on welcome to refugees.

Program outcomes include:

Refugee families integrated into mainstream society through case management and appropriate referrals to schools, supportive programs and connections to mentors.
Refugee families who are financially self-sufficient through employment training program and placement services.
Healthy families who responsibly access health care systems and resources.

WHY?

When we achieve these outcomes our entire community becomes stronger and richer through welcoming a diverse, hard working and eager group of global survivors. Refugees bring with them more than just a few belongings when they resettle to the U.S.; they bring their passions, hope, resiliency and determination.  They can accomplish great things with a little help. The Refugee & Asylee Programs maintains the highest rates of employment outcomes.  Additionally, LFSRM has the most extensive resettlement experience of the Colorado based refugee resettlement agencies and has been serving refugees and asylees for more than 30 years.
