We did it!
November 08, 2016
My world changed on October 6, 1993. That was the fateful day I lost my mom to Type 1 Diabetes. After her diagnosis, she carefully managed her diet and insulin daily, taking precautionary measures such as always keeping candy in her purse for fear of an insulin shock. Even so, she wasn’t able to fend off the horrific complications that this disease can cause, including kidney failure, blindness, and ultimately for my mom, a fatal heart attack. There is no known cause for Type 1 diabetes (TD1). My brothers and I get tested routinely, as we do know it’s hereditary and unlike its name, Juvenile Diabetes can strike at any age. My mother was diagnosed at the age of 31.
To honor my mom, this November as part of National Diabetes Awareness Month, I’m lacing up my running shoes to run my second marathon in New York City. I will take care of the running, but I need you to help me reach my goal of $3,500 before the race on November 6, 2016. And in case you need a some extra donation motivation, look no more ...
Lynn's Top 5 Reasons to Donate:
#5 - On November 6, you can help find a cure for TD1 while still in your pajamas
#4 - You don't even have to own a pair of running shoes to participate
#3 - Because of your donations, I will have no excuse to walk or crawl to the finish line and will run all 26.2 miles.
#2 - Your donation is tax deductible, so you get to feel good twice: once when you donate and again when you deduct
#1 - Your donation will make a difference! Together, we will help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes
Thank you for reading my story and for all of your support,
