"Every child, no matter what background, deserves the opportunity to gain skill and ability to play Club Level Soccer!" --Mario Galvan, LYON Soccer Academy Director of Coaching, and Founder
ABOUT LYON SOCCER ACADEMY
Lyon Soccer Academy (LSA), is a non-profit 501c3 organization residing and serving the Los Angeles County geographic area. It’s main goal and purpose is to provide educational and athletic training, coupled with creating a health and fitness environment for the direct benefit of our youth by way of using the sport of soccer (fútbol).
THE LSA PROGRAM & HOW IT WORKS
The LSA program is comprised of funding scholarships and opportunities for predominantly low-income, ethnic, immigrant community youth to enroll in club level soccer academy training that otherwise would never be able to participate in or experience due to limited household and community resources.
In the case of LSA, its educational focus is on youth sport fitness and educational learning of the soccer game, also known as fútbol.
Most LSA students enroll by paying an annual league & Identification fee, tournament fees, and a monthly academy tuition. However, there are many youth that can and very well deserve to participate in the LSA training program, but do not have the economic resources to do so.
The 2014-15 training season is already under way, with student participant enrollment open for both boys and girls, from ages 4-15. However, LSA is in dire need for monetary donations to be able to afford scholarships to qualifying youth who otherwise would not be able to participate.
PLEASE DONATE WHAT YOU CAN, TODAY!

LSA BELIEF STRUCTURE
LSA dedicates its energy to educate and instill in youth participants that TO BE A CHAMPION in life, you need skill and will to win. However LSA emphasizes that your will to win must be greater than your skill. At LSA, we believe that you need more WILL than skill to be a champion.
The LSA philosophy is to educate our youth participants on the importance of living a healthy physically active lifestyle, with a commitment to academic excellence, coupled with acquiring a set of learned skills in the sport of fútbol (soccer).
LSA aims to create opportunities for diverse youth to be involved in a team sport, to be contributors to the team as individuals of a whole, and to learn how these activities and lessons learned at LSA will help to create parallels with future real life scenarios, so that one day our students will be prepared to contribute as productive citizens in society.
LSA TRACK RECORD AND PERFORMANCE
Although still in its fledgling stages, during the last year (2013-14) LSA has demonstrated a purposeful effort to include community stakeholders in the governance and planning of organizational objectives and has a successful track record for building partnerships and leveraging resources as part of their organization’s work specifically in the program areas of Health & Fitness, and prioritizing Education, Leadership, and Academics amongst its student participants.
The 2014-15 LSA program started in the community of Boyle Heights, Calif., and has recently moved to the community of Glassell Park, Calif.
LSA FUTURE PLANS
Going forward, LSA is confident that with the proper support and funding, LSA will not only prove fruitful but will grow its programs and commitment throughout the many other parts of Los Angeles County.
Although, parent donations and tuition payments are part of the enrollment process, LSA confidently has cemented its commitment to implementing fundraising outreach efforts so that its tuition assistance programs can remain year after year for many neighborhood students into the future.
LSA MEASURABLE OBJECTIVES
The following are the expected outcomes and key objectives that LSA will use to measure the success of its programs:
1. 100% capacity of student participation
2. 80% retention of returning student participation
3. 100% Parent Involvement
4. 2-4 Community Based Organizations that Support LSA
5. Student participant progressive development in the
skill and educational knowledge of the soccer sport
by way of moving up in playing time, level, and
6. To cover between 50% to 100% of tuition expenses for
low income and marginalized student families
7. Garner testimonies from at least 50%+ of student
participants that show increased or demonstrated
progress in academic achievement
Going forward, LSA is confident that with the proper support and funding, LSA will not only prove fruitful but will grow into other like communities throughout the Los Angeles County.
