Your gift will make possible a dynamic community center and important small business venture, one that could prove to be pivotal in the economic revitalization of a critical business corridor in Detroit's lower-east-side.
Every gift received will be matched -- dollar for dollar -- by a generous donor, up to $30,000.
MACC Development, a placed-based/faith-based community development corporation is dedicated to seeking the holistic revitalization of Detroit's 48214 neighborhood. In addition to its core programs -- MACC Lit, MACC Housing, MACC Sports, MACC Legal, and The Commons -- the organization is rehabilitating a 14,000 square foot commercial property on Mack Avenue.
Known now as the MACC Building, this property will be a laundromat, a coffee shop, a literacy center, a legal clinic, a collaborative work area, a community gathering space, economic development engine, and more. All construction is to be complete by October 2015.
Recently, MACC Development recently received a generous matching donation of up to $30,000 to invest into the building's business storefront (The Commons). That business will meet two major market needs -- coffee and laundry -- while simultaneously produce a service that brings the diverse communities of the 48214 together in a single space. Perhaps most importantly, its success will augment the argument for increased economic development on a once-forgotten corridor.
Every dollar donated will be matched, up to $30,000. For more information, visit:
