Please help support Operation Backpack, the annual back-to-school supply drive that collects and distributes new backpacks full of grade-specific supplies to the thousands of homeless children living in New York City homeless and domestic violence shelters, by making a donation. A new, full backpack is thrilling for a child to receive before school starts and can make the difference between them being excited to go to school and not wanting to go at all. Operation Backpack puts the backpacks in the children’s hands before they go to school so that on day one they look and feel like everyone else in their class. Operation Backpack began 14 years ago with a modest goal — to fill and distribute 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to children living in shelters that the Volunteers of America organization supports in New York City. They now partner with the NYC Department of Education and the Department of Homeless Services and are expecting to distribute over 20,000 backpacks filled with brand new school supplies for the 2017-2018 school year. Thank you for your generosity!
