When you donate to the MACOMB FAMILY YMCA, you make the MACOMB COMMUNITY better through programs focused on:
Summer Day Camp: $170 provides 2 weeks of day camp
Day camp at the Y helps kids form new friendships, strengthen confidence and sharpen character. The Y is also working to close the achievement gap and reverse the trend of summer learning loss throughout Metro Detroit by including educational programs into all of our summer day camps. However, not all children have access to enriching summer experiences. The Y raises funds so everyone, regardless of income or background, has the ability to learn, grow and thrive at camp.
Girls on the Run/STRIDE: $1200 sponsors 1 Girls on the Run® team/ STRIDE
These afterschool programs use the power of running to help prepare youth for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living with interactive activities such as running, playing games and meaningful discussions culminating in a 5K run. Youth in third through eighth grades learn a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and team building skills to help them become strong and self-confident. The Y believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate. Scholarships are awarded so that no child is turned away due to inability to pay.
Senior programs at the Macomb Family YMCA include Active Older Adult fitness classes, Senior Yoga and Boomer Cross training. Pablo, a senior member at the Y, says, “I come to the YMCA to feel good about myself, as well as meet wonderful people and caring instructors. I find that I get energy just being around all the other older people. I will continue to come to the Y because this is where I’ve become friends with some very wonderful people and I’m grateful to have them in my life.”
Every dollar donated to the MACOMB FAMILY YMCA has a lasting impact on the people of the MACOMB COMMUNITY. Give today for a better us.
