The Story

EVENT DATE: Aug 11, 2018

The Maddie Potts Fitness Challenge

The fitness challenge will celebrate Maddie Potts’ legacy of kindness, sportsmanship and dedication to the sports of Soccer, Track and Lacrosse. Maddie was 17 and in her senior year at Chariho High School when she collapsed on the soccer field and later died at Hasbro Children’s Hospital from an unknown brain aneurysm. Maddie was a loving sister, daughter, granddaughter, artist, and friend, as well as a Soccer and two year Lacrosse Captain. Since Maddie was born on the 11th and carried this number with her throughout her sports career, The Foundation’s mission is to celebrate Maddie’s character through the 11 attributes that represent her work ethic and approach to life. When life gets tough think about these 11 characteristics and ask yourself What Would Maddie Do?

Mental Toughness

Inclusive Leadership

Emotional Control

Outstanding coachability

Team First

Self Confidence

The Foundations’ immediate goals are to present three $1,100.00 scholarships to athletes and art students from Chariho High School starting in 2018, while continuing to encourage all coaches to incorporate the Positive Coaching Alliance philosophy into their programs, through the Maddie Potts Coaching Symposium. In addition, The Foundation has a long term commitment to improve the athletic facilities on the Chariho campus by building a Maddie Potts Field House and Indoor Practice Facility.

A Fitness Challenge will be held as a fundraiser for the Maddie Potts Foundation with the help of Positive Tracks. The mission of the foundation is to continue Maddie’s spirit of sportsmanship, leadership and perseverance and reward individuals with similar characteristics. Our goal is to raise $36,000 and train over 1,100 participants!

The Challenge is open to all individuals and ages who want to sweat for the Maddie Potts Foundation. Participants choose from high intensity speed and agility training to activities suitable for adult recreational and less competitive athletes, and yoga. Your registration allows you to sign up for one group workout sessions of your time and intensity.  Sessions are 55 minutes with up to 25 other participants and led by 1 professional trainer. There will be up to 9 simultaneous groups of various skill levels training per hour.

If you want to work out as a team, get together with your teammates and determine the session and time.  Then click on the register button, create an individual account and sign up for the session you decided on.  All of your teammates will need to register individually. Once the session and time slot is full the session will be closed. Or just register for the session you want.
