EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
On November 6th, I will be running in the New York City Marathon. While training and feeling grateful for family and good health, I felt compelled to raise awareness and garner support for Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
MADD’s mission is dear to my heart. They simply advocate for sober driving, underage drinking prevention (to afford our children the best possible future) and lastly, MADD offers free services to those who have been victimized by drunk driving crime.
My children, Ashleigh, Ty and Sabrina are still young. I am astounded that today I feel just as overwhelmed with love as I did when I first held each one. I continue to be stunned by their beauty and perfection and at the same time I’m aware of the awesome responsibility of being a parent
But, what about tomorrow? My children are growing faster than I had ever imagined. And, as they grow and become more independent, I will be less able to keep them out of harms way.
Drunk driving is the #1 cause of death for children. Let’s help MADD expand its reach and influence—work to keep our loved ones protected and to once and for all eliminate this 100% preventable crime
