Madeline's Milestones was born out of our wish that our daughter "wouldn't miss a thing" in a hearing world. Her diagnosis of moderately severe to profound hearing loss, in both ears at age 18 months, changed our lives forever. But we remained focused on seeing the beauty in the journey and committed ourselves to being active voices for those who are hard of hearing and deaf. As co-chairs for the Listening Walk at the Zoo and founding parents, we have commited our time and talents to give back to the School who gave our daughter her voice, helped her find her words and works with her in the mainstream to ensure her daily success.
Madeline found the ability to listen and speak as a student at The Clarke School for Hearing and Speech. With a 150 year history of teaching deaf children to listen and speak, we are fortunate to have The Clarke School in Pennsylvania. All proceeds from this walk will directly benefit the students in our own backyard. And our Madeline directly benefits, as she continues to receive Clarke services in the mainstream. She continues to shine as an example of someone with incredible ABILTIES. We credit the dedicated and caring professionals at The Clarke School for creating the foundation for her success.
Thank you for joining our team, supporting our efforts and helping us keep our promise to our daughter that she "won't miss a thing." With your participation, scores of other children will be afforded the same opportunities to thrive, achieve and show the world what deaf children can do!
