Florence Forth was started by Leslie and Will McDow whose daughter Florence died on March 4th, 2012 after a long battle with autoimmune encephalitis. The search for a diagnosis and lack of effective treatments led us to realize the need for increased awareness, improved clinical care and expanded research.
Our lives were forever changed in November 2012, when Madison was diagnosed with Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis at the age of 6. She has endured countless pokes, EEGs, MRIs, lumbar punctures, treatments, etc. in our pursuit to get and keep her healthy. Throughout Madison's battle we have met a group of people associated with the Autoimmune Encephalitis Alliance. These people have become a great resource for us when we have felt alone on this journey. In March, Cory, Mandy, Madison, and Macy will travel to Durham, NC to run in our 3rd Florence Forth 5K. Please consider joining Team Madison Fights the Madness in Durham or support us by making a tax deductible donation to the AEA in honor of Madison.
