I chose to participate in the DONNA finish breast cancer marathon because the cause is something I can relate to.I was in the 3rd grade when my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable breast cancer and for two and a half years she battled not only for herself but for her loved ones. Despite her strength, courage and her ability to keep a positive outlook on her disease, she passed away February 3, 2008 at age 47.After my mothers death , my family and friends came together and were forced to continue on with life, but her inspiration and legacy is something I know we will all never forget. My mother was well known not only in our home town of Pearl River , but also at our church, a place that she loved so much. Faith was something that got my mother through every challenge she faced, and was something she enforced at home for her family. When things got bad , she promised our family that everything will work out and be ok. My mother always put others above herself even while battling cancer. Even during her hardest days , she remained faithful and knew God would not only take care of her but her family as well.
Although, 10 years has passed since my mother has passed away , the pain and grievance does not get any easier , but of course with love and encouragement from family and friends , the difficult days are few and far between.I'm running this year to honor all those who lost their lives to cancer. I'm running for every son or daughter who lost a parent to cancer. I'm running this year for any mother or father who had to watch their child battle cancer, because as my mom always said , a parent should not have to watch their child go through what she did. I'm running this year for anyone who had to experience a loved one affected by this awful disease. But most important of all , I'm running this year for my mom and the legacy she has left behind. My family has come such a long way since February 3, 2008. Although it was a situation far from ideal, my father did an amazing job picking up the pieces and keeping my family close together through such a difficult time. This year I would like to dedicate my participation not only to my mother, but also to my father. He has taken on the role as both "mom" and "dad" and does it with ease. .
With your help , we can help put an end to cancer , and make sure nobody has to experience this disease ever again. To help battle cancer I will be running on February. 11th. I'm looking for small donations to donate to .......Any amount of money is greatly appreciated and will make a difference. Thank you all for your support, it means so much to me and my family!!
