BENEFITING: STUPID CANCER
I am running the Chicago Marathon this weekend in memory of Becky "Byrnes" Graham who was involved with Stupid Cancer through volunteering and fundraising, along with conference attendance. Back in High School I always thought Becky was crazy to run for pleasure when not chased or required by our Field Hockey coach. Becky already knew then what took me years to discover, that running is medicine for the soul and has so many benefits, whether for stress relief, a personal bucket list marathon challenge or more importantly to challenge yourself to endure the pain of running 26.2 miles so someone else doesn't have to, while fundraising and raising awareness. It is the later why I run marathons today. I am going to keep running as long as these little legs will carry me, because I can and not everyone is blessed with that ability for whatever reason. I will run through the streets of Chicago representing Becky in memory, while raising awareness and funds for Stupid Cancer. It meant a lot to Becky, so I will carry-on her legacy.
