EVENT DATE: Apr 07, 2017
I’m asking for your financial support for the recruiting and training of CASA Volunteers here in Santa Barbara County. In doing so, I’m paying tribute to a special little guy, Bryan, out of Terrant County, Texas. Due to issues of confidentiality, we can’t share the plight of a local child but Bryan’s story and the positive impact his CASA's had in his life is not far from that of so many of our children in Foster Care who have also experienced abuse and neglect.
In June of last year, I had the opportunity and gift to hire on with CASA of Santa Barbara County as their Court Officer. I’m privileged to attend all court hearings for our CASA children and bring that information back to our CASA Volunteers while also maintaining our Waiting List of children in need of a CASA. Just today, I finished entering the ninth child in one week onto our Waiting List. Add those to the 56 children already waiting for a CASA Volunteer and we have 65 children in Santa Barbara County that are facing the foster care system on their own, without an advocate to speak on their behalf. And...there will be more next week.
I’m sharing Bryan’s story with you as a tribute to him, to all our wounded children, and to all the CASAs your donation will bring into their lives. Please give what you can.
