BENEFITING: SAVE THE RAIN INC
The Primary School has 488 students.
50% of the students are suffering from either typhoid, Malaria, or kidney problems.
Almost all of the students suffer from lung issues because of the dust.
Even though the school has a six acre farm, it doesn't provide any food for the children, so the malnutrition rates are extremely high.
The school floods during the rainy season.
There is a pipe at the school that turns on for an hour once every two weeks.
When we were there assessing, we could only get very small drops of water to flow from the pipe.
In 2001, an organization came in and built a 2,000 liter rain water harvesting tank, but ran out of money and could not complete the system nor gutter the building to harvest the rain.
The students are walking three kilometers everyday, multiple times a day, to collect water from another stand pipe.
