Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

To celebrate turning 35 and becoming a veteran in 2012, I am attempting to run all the World Marathon Majors: Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York.

Since the conception of the World Marathon Majors in 2006 few runners have completed all in the same year, mainly due to the logistics. Boston and London being run only 6 days apart in April and Berlin being held only a week earlier than Chicago during the Autumn. Fortunately I'll then have 4 weeks rest before the final marathon in New York.

Although I am running this for personal achievement I have also decided to run for charity. I have secured my places in Boston and London through achieving the guaranteed entry qualifying times in previous marathons so haven't needed to buy a place from a charity but I have decided to raise money and awareness for asthma.  I have chosen to do this as my PhD was in respiratory medicine focusing on asthma research and I suffer from asthma myself.

However, I also teach a number of sports to children and young people who miss out on participating in activities through not managing their asthma successfully or because their asthma will prevent them from taking part so I wish to inspire people with asthma to participate in sports.

As I’m British and live in the UK I have decided to raise money for Asthma UK, however I also have many American friends who also want to donate but want to help an American charity for tax reasons so I have also decided to raise money for the American Lung Association.  One of the their key goals is to fight Childhood Asthma, which affect more than 6 million children and is the leading serious chronic illness amongst American kids. The AHA also provides funding for research into influenza, a condition which can exacerbate asthma, chronic lung diseases, COPD and lung cancer.

I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
