I am raising funds in honor of my god-daughter, Anna Ramsey. She is battling a rare disese, juvenile myositis, and has written this in her own words. I am so proud of her and honored to help her reach her fundraising goal. Thank you for your support. It give me, Anna, and her family such HOPE!
From Anna: "I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myositis four years ago. I have experienced pain for years and before being diagnosed, I was very weak with swollen muscles and a rash over my elbows. For three months we struggled to find a diagnosis though I had been suffering for years. During this time I was unable to do much more than lie around and had to undergo many painful tests. After many trials of medications, I have found something that seems to help. To this day, I am still fighting but with the support of the CureJM Foundation I am hopeful that research is heading in the right direction.
Despite this obsticle, I am now in college at Tulane University and have been doing as much as possible to work with CureJm to do whatever I can to give back to a community that has become family. This is just one of the ways that I can help.
Juvenile Myositis is a life-threatening and incurable disease affecting 17,000 children and adults in the U.S. alone. Juvenile Myositis (JM) causes the body's own immune system to attack healthy cells and tissues, which can cause pain, weakness, inability to walk, disfigurement, and even death. JM can affect virtually any system of the body, the heart, lungs, skin, muscles, and more."
