BENEFITING: JOINT COUNCIL ON INTL CHILDRENS SERVICES
ORGANIZER: JOINT COUNCIL ON INTL CHILDRENS SERVICES
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
As a proud adoptive Dad of three amazing children from Guatemala, I am giving back through "Make Change for Children" to two incredible organizations who made my family possible......Semillas de Amor and Joint Council on International Children's Services!
Semillas de Amor, an amazing children's home in Guatemala founded by Nancy Bailey, was the harbor that my children Leo, Lorenzo, and Julia found refuge in as infants. One fateful day in October 2007 we visited Semillas de Amor and now, a very long story very short, seven years later we are a family living in New York City.
But our adoptions would not have happened without Joint Council on International Children's Services as well. You see we ended up having front row seats for a historic shutdowns of adoptions of Guatemala, one in which was including adoptions like ours that were already in process. Joint Council stepped up to the forefront and, through their engagement with our Congress and Unicef, were able to ensure that in-process adoptions continued. Only because of their advocacy did our adoptions (and 5000+ more) complete.

Make Change for Children is an advocacy and fundraising campaign created by Joint Council in 2011 to help us serve and protect the millions of vulnerable children around the world who live without the love of a permanent family. Make Change for Children brings the world’s attention to the plight of these children, and generates funding for the programs led by Joint Council and its partners. Because all of Joint Council's administrative costs are covered by membership dues from our 230 partners, 100% of your donation goes to helping children in need.
