All across Southern Ontario, minority youths are disproportionately at risk of dropping out of school, trouble with the law, violence, amongst countless other issues. However, growing up in Malton (Mississauga), I was fortunate enough to go to university and later Teacher's College to fulfill one of my dreams of helping youth as an educator. My other dream is what this project is about. I would like to (with the love, help, and support of anyone interested) provide youth/students of all backgrounds to with as much opportunities and resources needed to realize their dreams. The thing about a lot of the at-risk youth in our communities in Peel Region and GTA is that there dreams are usually things a lot of people take for granted like going to university, getting a job in the field of their choice or even playing an instrument. Everyone should be able to achieve these things, or at least be given the opportunity to, which is what "Making Dreams Come True" is all about. This project will help youth realize that their dreams are not too big or too incredible to be realized. It will start first locally, but I hope that this project or versions of it reach all across the world!
