I am a 15 year survivor of Stage IV inoperable, incurable kidney cancer. I wish to facilitate continuation of the research to extend life and to find the cure. My bonus life is enabled by the heroes on whose shoulders I stand, and i want to do my part to become shoulders upon which others will one day stand. Through my treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, I have been blessed to come to know the dedicated and tireless doctors, researchers and others who have allowed me to continue to try and honor the gift of life, one day at a time.
In late April there were two significant developments in this quest of mine to give back in small part for all of which I have been the benficiary. The first is cautionary, the second inspirational.
My recent scans showed new tumors in my remaining kidney and progression in the other metastases. For now I will continue on the daily chemotherapy regimin that has served me well for over 2 years.
The most excellent development is that my beloved daughter Elizabeth, a graduate of Brown University and, the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and currently training for certification as a veterinary surgeon has been admitted to the marathon. As she has 4 times before, she will run alongside and in support of me from start to finish line. If this is as good as it gets, I am totally good with that.
Won't you join us on our quest to serve and give back to others? No other contribution you make to any cause will be more apprecaited than this one. Together with Dr. Elizabeth, I will PressOnRegardless.
