Saline County Foster Kids through the CALL
Organized by: Todd Bailey
Makenna & Brianna: May is Foster Care Awareness Month! Did you know there are about 4,900 foster kids in Arkansas? There are almost 100 foster kids in our county. They need your help and our family wants to help them.
We are raising money for the CALL - the group that recruited and trained our family. CALL stands for "Children of Arkansas Loved for a Lifetime"
The money we raise will be donated to Saline County CALL house. The remodeled CALL house will be a place for CALL offices, training rooms, and a CALL Closet where Foster families can come and get clothes that they need for their foster children. There will also be bedrooms for foster kids who have just come into care and need to stay overnight. Right now if there is a child who is taken into care in the middle of the night, they have to spend the night in a caseworker’s office. Once the CALL house is finished, hopefully they won’t have to do that anymore. More helpful things will also be put into the CALL house.
Our family has been fostering for a year in June. We have had a total of 10 kids in our home. Some have stayed for a while, though one placement only stayed for a week. Our youngest placement was a newborn baby and our parents got it straight from the hospital. Our oldest was a set of 4 years old twins. Foster care has impacted our family in many ways and we want to use this opportunity to give back to the CALL.
Todd & Monica: The girls wanted to do something for Foster Care Awareness month. All money collected will be given directly to the Saline County CALL for the remodel of the CALL home. You can learn more about the CALL here - http://thecallinarkansas.org/
