Marlene Sigar, a single mother, and her two daughters live just outside Nashville. She has been working hard to support her daughters and move forward after her 10-year-old son, Jacob, died of a brain tumor. An adjunct professor at a community college where she teaches three economics classes, she spends 75% of her income for rent and does not earn enough to pay off her son's funeral expenses. This month, Marlene is telling her story to help shine a light on America’s rental housing crisis.
