Please join us on November 17th at Rhodes Jordan Park at the Pavillons near the lake and senior center, for Easter Seals North Georgia's Family Turkey Trot! The walk will be a fun-filled and family-friendly event in support of children living with disabilities and special needs in North Georgia.
Registration and check-in activities will begin at 9:00am and the walk will begin at 10:00am. Our walk and will include fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. We will have a bubble party and games. You will have an opportunity to meet our Honorary Ambassadors and hear how Easter Seals North Georgia's services contributed to their success.
You can create your own fundraising team and help us raise funds and awareness about Easter Seals and the programs we offer. This is how your fundraising will make a difference:
$500. or more provides: A month of physical therapy for a child with a developmental disability; therapy session will improve functional mobility, increase range of motion and strength, and teach self-care skills. or 8 days of respite care for the family of a child with a severe disability; this provides an opportunity for the primary caregivers to have a break from the day-to-day activities of caring for a cchild with a severe disability with security of a qualified person caring for their child in their absence.
$1,000 or more provides: Three months of occupational therapy sessions for a child with a developmental disability; these sessions will help manage pain, improve fine and gross motor skills, and increase independence and can often help a child meet developmental milestones, especially during the first three years of life.
$2,500 or more provides: The tools necessary to assess a child's unique needs and create an Individualized Child Care Plan; this allows Easter Seals North Georgia's teachers to develop individualized goals and activities wich directly address each child's unique needs or speech therapy sessions for a child with a communication disorder for a full year; therapy sessions enhance receptive and expressive langugage development, oral-motor skills, auditory processing and phonological skills.
$5,000 or more provides: P.L.A.Y. (Play and Language for Autistic Youngsters) Services for a child for a year in this program will support a child with Autism, their parents and families, imporviding the child's language, social, and play skills or Comprehensive early intervention assessments for 42 children between the ages of zero and three to ensure they receive the necessary services to lead independent lives.
Free parking is available at our event. The walk will take place around the scenic lake and will be a loop that will start and finish in the same location. The path is fairly flat and easy to navigate - wheelchair accessable.
