Family Without Borders (Felicia & Rayne)
Organized by: Shelley Shultz
July 27, 2016
When Arlene Gordon unexpectedly passed away at the age of 57 in September 2015 she left many people behind who loved her dearly. Felicia's nephews, Christopher and Cameron, lost much more than a grandmother - they lost their primary caregiver.
Felicia and Rayne are working very hard to adopt Christopher and Cameron and provide them with a loving family and a stable home where their potential can be realized.
During a bittersweet time of overwhelming personal loss and joyful personal gain, the forming family is faced with daunting expenses. While the entire family has agreed that this is the best course of action, the boys are US citizens living in Felicia's hometown in Indiana.
The costs to adopt and immigrate the boys to Canada are substantial. To date the totals have reached $15,000 and are expected to rise to $40,000. That amount does not include any ongoing support or provision for the boys' day-to-day care. Felicia and Rayne fully understand and anticipate those costs. This is where you come in.
Raising funds toward the overall costs of adoption and immigration will be an ongoing task. Christopher and Cameron are bright, loving boys with an easy and ready smile. The relationship with their aunts is a close one, and they can't wait to be united as a family. While we cannot do anything to assist with timelines, we may be able to assist monetarily to ease the burden and help everyone get a sound footing as they navigate this new life.
Thank you to everyone who's taken time to read the story. If you're able to contribute we are forever thankful.
