Crittenden Arts Council Inc's Fundraiser:

Making Arts Possible in the Delta

Crittenden Arts Council Inc's Photo

THE STORY:

DeltaARTS provides art opportunities for residents of the Delta, an area rich with imagination, but lacking in resources. We live in a fast-paced, rapidly changing world, where imaginative thinkers and innovative doers are needed more than ever. We're here to provide quality, culturally enriching experiences that will change lives in an economically depressed area.

OUR NEED:

This fundraiser will help DeltaARTS meet a $300,000 Challenge Grant from the Assisi Foundation of Greater Memphis for program expansion and building enhancement. Essentially, we want to offer new programs, improve current programming, and renovate the auditorium of our wonderful new building (see below). These funds will benefit and provide opportunity for a low-income, marginalized, vulnerable population who otherwise would not get to experience the enriching, life-enhancing power of the arts.

OUR OPPORTUNITY:

In 2016, Crittenden County (our resident county) gave DeltaARTS the greatest opportunity in its 44-year history. The elected governing body of Crittenden County, with blessings from the Schoettle family, entrusted DeltaARTS with the Glenn P. Schoettle Education building in West Memphis. This opportunity is significant for DeltaARTS as well as the community and the surrounding area. It is the perfect building for DeltaARTS as we will now be able to host art exhibits, performances, workshops, conferences and other special events in our own space rather than borrowing and renting from multiple entities. The vibrancy, pride, and access to inspiring opportunities that this new DeltaARTS facility will bring to our community is immeasurable.

ABOUT DELTAARTS:

Established in 1972 as an arts agency serving Crittenden County, Arkansas, DeltaARTS provides arts education and imaginative learning experiences to more than 15,000 students, educators, families, and senior citizens annually. Today, through an affiliation with two national arts education philosophies, Wolf Trap Institute and Lincoln Center Education, more children are reached with research-based methods of artistic discovery.

DeltaARTS currently offers seven imaginative learning programs, including a Student Matinee Series, Wolf Trap Early Learning through the Arts, an annual Aesthetic Education Educator Workshop, classroom residencies, Crittenden Youth Theatre, Arts for Seniors, art curation and exhibition, and a public art program. We also offer an annual one-day Young Authors' Symposium and after-school and summer classes.
