BENEFITING: ATRAVES U S INC
Last year, I had the experience of a lifetime when I visited Camilio Ortega, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Managua, Nicaragua. I was there to do research for a graduate thesis project researching patient-physician communication practices; however, I wound up spending the majority of my time assisting an American nurse as she performed school physicals and taught women within the community basic homecare skills. These experiences with the locals coupled with my own interviews with patients and physicians opened my eyes to a whole other world.
With another year approaching and my graduate degree under my belt, I am hoping to return to Managua for another opportunity to volunteer with the ATRAVES organization. I'm hoping to provide my expertise in Public Relations and Marketing to help grow not only the recognition of the ATRAVES program but also to aid in the public's recognition of Nicaragua's healthcare system. In order to make this project happen, I am asking friends, family, and supporters to make any donation they can to help fund my flight and home stay expenses. Offline donations are also appreciated as they will pay for my flight! Contact me for mailing info! The trip will take place this May 2012 through June 2012. Any help is greatly appreciated!
