My New Year's Resolution this year was simple, I wanted to run miles, lots of miles. 1,200+ to be exact or 100 miles per month. As the year has progressed it became clear that I was going to surpass that number if I stayed on my current pace, and reach closer to 1,400 miles.
Then something hit me, while my miles are doing me wonderful benefits for my own personal health, I wanted my miles to mean something for others. Keeping with what I started last year of raising money for a charity in my local community, I came up with this idea.
Since my 2012 running year began with Resolution Run for RJ, benefitting the young high school student diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This whole year I have worn my bracelet supporting RJ's fight, and it reminds me daily of the real battles in life.
Thus I want to raise money for the All Children's Hospital Foundation which has a location right near my house in Sarasota. Thus, I start my challenge again via Twitter, Facebook, Word of Mouth, etc. to get people to help me make my miles count towards something greater than just personal achievement.
Regardless of how much money I raise, I am going to set my own contribution to $140 or ten cents per mile I ran this year.
2012 Mileage as of 9/29/2012
January-112 February-113 March- 143 April- 119 May-119 June- 118 July- 116 August- 111 September- 119
Go to www.Allkids.org to find out exactly what you are helping me raise money for.
