Please help this wonderful organization that has helped me in so many ways!
Are you aware that there are over 10 million sports related injuries in the US each year? Sports injuries, especially among youth athletes, is fast becoming the "Silent Epidemic" where 1 in 3 children who play a team sport will suffer a severe injury. Many of those injured athletes will suffer in several ways from losing their friendships and teammates, depression because they are not able to play and worse, turn to other destructive behaviors because they have lost their ability to be a part of a team.
Positive-Strides.org was founded to help these injured athletes through programs that ADVOCATE, EDUCATE and, most importantly, offering SUPPORT. By offering direct services such as: access to an extensive network of medical professionals, financial support for treatments and access to new cutting edge treatments (such as Neuro-Bio-Feedback that aid in the recovery from concussion symptoms) and financial assistance, if needed, Positive-Strides.org is making a difference in the lives of many young athletes who have lost their identities when they are no longer able to play sports.
During the month of September (2015) there were four (4) deaths caused by sports-related injuries. Our goal at Positive-Strides.org is to work together to find solutions on how young athletes can avoid, if possible, serious injuries and, if injured, how they can work towards a healthy recovery. In 23 months of existence, Positive-Strides.Org has helped forty-six (46) student-athletes who suffered from various sports-related injuries such as concussions, compound fractures, depression, knee injuries, back injuries, and spinal stenosis. One of our most recent athletes Positive-Strides.org has helped is Courtney Sprissler. Courtney is twenty-two years of age and suffered a total of seven (7) concussions as a highly sought after high school field hockey player. Upon suffering her seventh concussion, Courtney began to experience the long lasting effects associated with concussions such as severe migraines, loss of memory, sleeplessness, and depression. After experimenting with many concussion treatments, (Courtney went through two (2) surgeries to cut her frontal, temporal and occipital nerves cut from her brain) she did not see any relief with the concussion symptoms until she found Positive-Strides. For the past eight (8) months Positive-Strides has been working closely with Courtney and providing her access to the EstyNeuroFlex - Neuro-Feedback treatment which has significantly improved Courtney's daily life. Courtney’s migraines have decreased to a four of out ten on the pain scale which were previously a ten out of ten. Additionally, Courtney has reported, since beginning the treatment, that she is sleeping better which has helped her gain a more positive outlook and given her hope. Courtney is still receiving the EstyNeuroFlex - Neuro-Feedback treatment which we hope will continue her recovery efforts (her improvement).
