After successfully finishing the Marine Corps Marathon and raising over $1,000 for Malaria No More last October, I was invited to run with Team Malaria No More in the ING New York City Marathon this November.
In order to run in NYC for Malaria No More, one must raise $3,000. I committed to that amount knowing that I had tremendous support last year and that running in the NYC Marathon may be a one-time chance. And so, I set out on a little more ambitious training schedule than last year with the hopes of finishing in 3 1/2 hours. The bad news? Statistics tell us 210 children under age 5 will die from malaria while I run. The good news? Malaria No More works to remove those statistics from the world, and that's why I'm humbled to help them.
Please give what you can, or tell a friend. If you've read this far, thanks. Now, off for a run!
p.s. Here's some information from MNM themselves:
A child under age 5 dies from malaria - a preventable and treatable disease - every minute, but we're racing to change that in the ING New York City Marathon 2012. Malaria No More is an official NY Road Runners Charity Partner, and you can help make malaria no more by sreading the word today.
