The reason I am starting this fundraising campaign is to give something to the community I grew up in something that it desperately needs and that is positive male leadership. When I was younger, being raised by a single mother with no positive male influence, I tended to gravitate towards the types I should not have been hanging around, just to feel like part of something. Then, I joined a mentoring program and I started to straighten my life up. Today, I can argue that the need for more programs like this is greater than ever. With the high percentage of young men growing up with no positive men to look up to and pattern their lives after, they tend to follow the wrong crowd and without programs like this, it might be too late to help some of them. My goal with "Male Responsibility" is to not only provide direction and guidance to young men without it, but to provide mentors who will guide them and serve as role models to them as long as they need us. I also plan to educate them on certain topics, pertaining to how to be a responsible, respectful and productive man, how to dress and behave to set up success in your life, how to treat and respect women as well as provide an environment to keep them off of the streets. We will also have a community service aspect where we do things in the community in order to gain a stronger sense of pride in our neighborhoods and to teach that being good men and future leaders is not confined to inside of the home, but to the people we help and touch as well.
