It’s that time of year again: Let's all Face Off Against Breast Cancer!!
The Manchester Rusty Blades will be playing in the Recreational Division Games of the 2016 Face Off Against Breast Cancer Tournament on January 31, 2016.
This year, I am participating in the 17th annual Face Off Against Breast Cancer hockey tourney fundraiser in Middlebury, Vermont. My women’s team, the Manchester RUSTY BLADES, is excited to be playing in this awesome fundraising event, being held Sunday, January 31th.
Our Team, The Rusty Blades has been touched all to often by Breast Cancer, from our sisters, mothers, friends, team mates, we are so lucky and blessed to continue to play with our dear friend and team mate Cathy Aragi who is all to familiar with the struggle of dealing with metastatic breat cancer, she is a survivor who knows all too well the challenges that cancer patients and their families face both emotionally and financially. This tounament has made huge contributions over the last 17 years to help fund The Cancer Patient Support Program.
As the tourney grew over the last 17years, the tournament as gone from raising a few hundred dollars to over 75,000, per event. This year The Face Off Against Breast Cancer is celebrating raising over $500,000.00 during the last 16 years. What an accomplishment.
Where the Funds Go
Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Cancer Patient Support Program’s (CPSP), offers supportive and rehabilitative service to cancer patients. The Program was created by a group of cancer survivors and others who have been touched by cancer. CPSP provides a range of no-charge support services, including professional counseling, nutrition support, and the Emergency Fund. Proceeds from The Face Off Against Breast Cancer go to the Emergency Fund and Patient Services, all earmarked for Vermont patients facing a breast cancer diagnosis. All services are provided free of charge, and request have come from every county in Vermont. The Patient Services include counseling and nutrition support for the patient and his/her family, and CPSP’s Emergency Fund provides short-term, emergency financial relief to local patients in need. This important program addresses the hidden impacts that cancer can have on families.
Cathys Personal goal is $5,000!!
I can only hope that with all your help I can get to $2,000 to add to our teams contribution to this great cause this year, of course more would be better, with the help from my family, friends, community support organizations and local businesses. Lets try to smash last years fundraising numbers.
