Welcome! My name is Manny Reyes and I am a 64 year old husband, father of 5 and grandfather of 3. I survived an ischemic stroke that paralyzed my entire right-side and left me with verbal apraxia - my mouth can not form words. After five months of hospitalization I am grateful to live with my family and to be closer each day to walking, talking, and traveling. My recovery (now I can stand!) puts the strokeof-fortune in National Stroke Month.
May 1st my family kicks-off Stroke Month with an online fundraiser and Seattle-based auction to support the projected five-year costs of in-home care my recovery requires. Join me in raising awareness of the critical role of caregivers in the success of a disabled adult living at home - I couldn't do it without them, or continue to thrive without your support.
This is a $25K campaign. Your donation of any amount relieves the financial stress of my caregiving on my family, and redirects my focus towards healing and not on being a burden. Together we can share this experience - a stroke happened to me, but challenges happen to us all. To help each other gives our experience purpose.
Thank you to the Alameda chapter of Push America for adopting me as a beneficiary of their 2012 run, and to ________ for its crucial grant to match the funds we raise here. Sometimes I'm told I'm a hero, but your commitment to the prosperity of all stroke-survivors is inspiring. More than 7 million Americans have survived a stroke - I am one story.
Return to my Fundrazr on Facebook to learn about my goals, my triumphs, and my condition throughout 2012. We will make a difference - THANK YOU!
