We're Manufacturing Teachers that LOVE Manufacturing!
The Alliance for Technology Education in Advanced Manufacturing (ATEAM) has partnered with Education Service Center Region 20 in San Antonio to provide regional teachers with contextualized STEM related professional development opportunities. During the proposal timeframe, teachers from districts in 17 counties will be provided the opportunity to participate in 3 and 5 day professional development workshops, with portions of the program being provided onsite at regional Advanced Manufacturing Businesses via the partnership with ATEAM. Teachers will have the opportunity to tour facilities in a number of different advanced manufacturing sectors, speak with professionals at each site about career paths, and develop lesson plans based on "real world" problems, taking back contextualized lessons to their students. The goal of the program is to improve awareness of the good careers available in Advanced manufacturing in more than 50 teachers and have them carry that message back to their students, providing them with informed career and education guidance.
