Lauren Ernst wrote -This year I am running the Chicago marathon to support a dog rescue and a cat rescue very dear to my heart. These two rescues do so much good for animals that do not have a voice. Over the next seven months, I will be training and fundraising in hopes to PR and beat my monetary goal of $7,500.00, which means at least $2,500.00 going to each rescue! That literally makes a life or death difference in lives of so many homeless cats and dogs.
Another cause near and dear to my heart is the treatment and awareness of eating disorders. I almost died at the age of 19, was hospitalized at 20 and again at 21. I'm not a victim to this disease; I am a survivor, a warrior. But 30% of people with an eating disorder will never make it. Running, in a healthy, supervised manner, has always been a coping skill. I can't think of a better way to honor my friends who are fighting with all their might everyday against an ED and remember those who lost the fight than to donate a third of the money I raise to Project Heal. Project Heal was started by a girl who I met the second time I was hospitalized and she is the bravest person I've ever met. She inspires me and those around her to stay positive and to always have hope.
Thanks for stopping by my page and I can't wait to see what these next seven months will bring.
