I am training for the Long Beach International City Bank Marathon. This means that on the afternoon of October 7, 2012, I will be victorious. (I will also be unable to walk up OR down a flight of stairs, but more on that later).
Much like my first marathon, I am training for this marathon while fundraising for two organizations that do great work: the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
There will be a Saturday morning I will wake up for my scheduled run, bleary-eyed and groggy, and just want to go back to sleep. My body will scream "Nooooo!!!" when my alarm goes off, as it often does even when I'm only getting up to do sedentary things like study.
I will ask myself, "Do I REALLY want to get up and run 20 miles?" I know what my answer will be. I will tell myself, "Well, Isaac Newton DID say that a body in rest will stay at rest..."
However, for those of you who remember Newton's First Law of Motion, you'll know that the rest of that statement is "unless an outside force acts on it."
That's where you come in. You can be my outside force. I am asking you to support me in my fundraising for the ASPCA because I need a reason to run. A reason other than chafing and endless wedgies, that is. I am running this marathon for a cause that is very important to me.
