Harvard, Wellesley and Northeastern on the board early!
March 24, 2016
BENEFITING: SCIENCE CLUB FOR GIRLS INC
EVENT DATE: Apr 05, 2016
Get in on the March Madness action by participating in a cross-campus fundraising challenge to benefit the mentoring programs of Science Club for Girls!
We're raising money to support the work of our Campus Chapters and extend this model to other nearby colleges and universities.
We're calling on alumni, affiliates and fans of our four current campuses - Northeastern University, Harvard University, Wellesley College and Boston College - to make a contribution in honor of your school (please name your school in the comment/tribute field with your donation). The school raising the most money by the closing buzzer of the NCAA women's final on April 5th will win a prize to celebrate and honor their SCFG Campus Chapter. All proceeds will benefit the volunteer mentoring programs of SCFG.
SCFG's club-based program model is about inspiring young girls' interest and confidence in STEM by connecting them with adult mentors who are real-life role models of academic and career success in STEM. A key component of our mentoring model is a near-peer approach, engaging older students from high school through graduate school as integral members of the teaching team. "Campus Chapters" are student organizations on the campuses of local colleges and universities that support a sisterhood of like-minded STEM-focused women across disciplines on their campuses, and together recruit about 50% of the mentors who directly support our clubs each year.
