it has been a very cold , snowy and difficult season to train here in Toronto . Last year the city was very lucky to have such a mild winter , but this year someone really pissed mother nature off and she's come back with a vengence .
Winter is always my strongest season to train. I do well in the cold , not so much in the heat , so my time / pace flucuates greatly between seasons. Unfortunately with the amount of snow fall we've received , my training has not been stellar and two weeks ago while running an 8km race I PULLED my hamstring as a result of bad footing and an aggressive pace . LISTEN TO YOUR COACH , he/ she is always right .
As a result i've been sitting on tHE sidelines the last 14 days , and i'm going crazy !!!!! All im doing is thinking about distance NOT covered and 8 weeks to the race , 6 with taper . AHHHHHHHH! Try telling a runner to relax and take it easy . HA !
i'm also leading my own SPIN-A-THON to raise funds for Wake Up Narcolepsy on March 3 , in Toronto ( i'm a certified spin instructor , a past time i much enjoy ) and need to get the hammy better for that as well .
It promises to be a ton of fun and when completed i'll post some pics .
FEB 28 -
It' a beautiful Wednesday here in TORONTO . A fantastic day to run , if i could . I continue to be plagued with injuries . The hamstring, which has worsened won't allow me to run long distance at my race pace . So i've had to completely slow down and shorten the distance. My most recent afflication associated to the hammy , is my big toe and continues to feel pressure when striking the paverment . Worried ? who me ? Oh you know i am . I waited a life time to get to BOSTON and this training season has just been so challenging . Some would say , i'm being tested before being 26.2 miles tested . Some will tell me , " what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ." I know once i arrive and am at the start line , i'll let adrenaline drive me . Just a little hard to think about the start line being so far behind in training .
regardless - my WAKE UP NARCOLEPSY FUNDRAISER is this saturday, WAKE UP TO SPIN , a morning of spining , with prizes , giveaways , food and drink . Hope to raise a nice chunk of cash for the foundation .
will document with pics , once completed .
WITHOUG A GOAL, IT'S ONLY A DREAM
Boston . Monday April 16 2018
It gives me great pleasure to be able to support such an important cause and to truly give back . Help me reach my goal of $5,000 .
