BENEFITING: Child and Family Services of New Hampshire
EVENT: Sleep Out 2017
EVENT DATE: Mar 24, 2017
On Friday, March 24th, I will be joining my mother in the SleepOut 2017. We will be sleeping outside in Manchester to help raise awareness and funds to help homeless youth in New Hampshire.
As the COO of Child & Family Services, my mother sees and deals with more than 1,500 homeless kids turning to Child & Family Services for help. CFS provides survival aid and fulfills basic needs such as food, clothing and medical care. In addition, CFS works to put these youth on a better path through educational and vocational advocacy, mental health and substance abuse treatment, job search and housing.
She made it aware to me that more than 300 kids and young adults in New Hampshire are sleeping on the streets. Some running away from abuse and neglect and often struggling with mental illness, substance abuse & poverty.
This hits close to home for me. Way before my parents adopted me, I was in very similar situations as some of these kids.
This year, I promised myself I would give back. Every day I thank God for my parents. They gave me the life that I never thought I would see. They gave me the tools to survive on my own here in New York. Not every child has that opportunity. They don’t have anyone or anywhere to run too.
One night on the street is not the same as being homeless. Every kid deserves a place to call home. Please donate today!
