BENEFITING: SOCCER WITHOUT BORDERS
EVENT DATE: Aug 07, 2016
I will be running the Beaver Creek half Marathon on behalf of Soccer Without Borders-Greeley, a non-profit organization working directly with refugee students to get them involved in soccer programs based on teamwork, social skills, educational support, and civic engagement; skills that they otherwise wouldn't be encouraged to explore. The refugee population in Greeley is near and dear to my heart; I have volunteered with this organization since the first year of living in Colorado and have also had the pleasure of teaching many refugee children in my classroom over the last few years. The hiking photos are from a week-long camping trip that I took with Big City Mountaineers where we taught a group of these girls how to survive in the wilderness for a week. It was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had! This program is 100% free to the middle school and high school students who participate, and with your support, this specific team of girls could have a full, Fall-season of soccer play partnered with Northern Colorado Soccer Club. Donations will cover league fees to participate, soccer gear, snacks, and transportation to and from games during the Fall season for these middle school and high school refugee girls. For more information on SWB-Greeley, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com Take a look at the Soccer Without Borders Mission Statement and if you have other questions please ask! THANK YOU! :) Soccer Without Borders MISSION is to use soccer as a vehicle for positive change, providing under-served youth with a toolkit to overcome obstacles to growth, inclusion, and personal success.
