Stuff About Me:

If you're on this site it's either  because you're a friend and I've begged you to donate money, or you're familiar with Misha Collins and all the great things his does to help others. I heard about Random Acts through this fine fellow while participating in my very first Gishwhes this past year in my hometown of Miami. In either case I'm glad you're here.... And I hope your credit card is too!  If you want to know about me keep reading, if not, just hit the donate button below.

Since you're still here, now I'll give you the low down on me. My parents migrated to Miami from Chile, and I was born in this beautiful and vibrant city that some question as to whether it is really a part of the USA.  I was raised bilingual and with many of my family's Latin customs.  I have always been aware of my heritage and of all of the blessings that I have been given thanks to the sacrifices my parents have made in coming to this country.  I visit my family in Chile often, and have grown up seeing the tremendous disparity of wealth in these 3rd world countries.  My mom and dad came from these meger roots and I want to do something to honor their hard work and dedication to our family.

I'm a teacher at a pre-school in Miami and when I learned about Random Acts, I knew it was the right opportunity for me to honor my parents and their sacrifices.  They helped me to understand the value of education and they have encouraged me to follow my dreams and to strive for a better future.  I believe that education is the key to my future and I want to help other people have some of the same educational opportunities that I have had in my life.  This is why I want to take part in the Random Acts mission this year and why I am asking you to enter that credit card number in the adequate spaces and make a hearty donation to my cause!

Still not sure?  Or maybe you are just intrigued by me?? This isn't my first volunteer gig.  I am an "overachiever" in the world of volunteer work.  In high school, I surpassed my required 25 hours of community service by logging over 300 hours in volunteer time!  After high school, I volunteered for 3 years in a row at an organization in Miami called "Shake-a-Leg", which provides physically challenged kids with the chance to experience aquatic life -- sailing, kayaking, swimming and general ocean-based activities.  I got involved with Shake-a-Leg because my younger cousin suffered from Muscular Dystrophy (MD) and I saw from first-hand experience the joy that this group brings to entire families effected by serious disease, and who otherwise may never have the opportunity to try things that many of us take for granted.  My cousin benefitted tremendously from his experience with Shake-a-Leg, and I wanted to give back to the organization.  My cousin has since passed away, which effected me tremendously, but now I think it is time to get back out there and find a new cause to which I can dedicate my time and energy.

Still here?  Is your credit card not working?  You can always do electronic checks or PayPal, if you prefer!  Or keep reading... I'm certain I can convince you to help me raise at least $5000 towards building a school in Nicaragua.

OK, so what about who I am?  Well, does anybody really know who they are?  I think you can live your entire life before you really know yourself well.  What I can tell you, though, is that I don't like to talk about myself much.  I'm pretty introverted, and really just enjoy spending time with my family, close friends and giving back to the community.  I am a full-time teacher and a part-time college student studying Sociology.  When I grow up, I want to be .... Well, OK, you got me here ... I'm still trying to figure that one out!!

OK, now... I've exhausted my writing capacity and I think my space limitations on this page.  Can you please help me?  I really hope you will hit that donate button and help me to make some kids' dreams of getting an education come true!!  Any amount is greatly appreciated, but donations of $1000 or more will get you a personal thank you from me.  :)
