54 days until race day!
March 08, 2016
BENEFITING: Living Water International
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
I am not a runner. I played a lot of team sports growing up and often ran as a punishment during practice. Some people find joy in a long morning jog and I have great respect for them, but for me it was always a struggle to find a purpose in running. In fact, I don't have to endure much at all if I choose not to. I wake up in the morning and get ready for work/school, take a short walk to my car, drive to wherever I need to be, and sit at a desk. I can even have food delivered to me pretty much anywhere! Now most of the time I try not to sit around all day but the point remains, I have a choice. There are people in this world who do not have that choice. Water is the most basic human need, but many people in the world have limited access to it. Every day people in our world walk miles and miles to collect water for their families, spending precious time that could be used for education or working to earn an income. After the long journey, the water collected is often unclean, causing illness or even death. Each year 2.2 million people die of a water-related illness. What do I do for clean water? I walk to the kitchen and turn on the faucet. It's easy to forget how much of a blessing water is when you have so much. Water affects every aspect of our lives and my easy access to it has given me a job, an education, good health, and financial stability. How has water helped you? Together we can help people around the world receive the blessing of clean water. I will be running a half marathon to raise money for Living Water International to bring this blessing to people who need it while spreading the love of Jesus Christ. I am asking you for your support as I run the farthest distance I ever have. You may not think you have much, but any contribution can make a difference. Before I didn't have a purpose for running, but now I do. I will endure for 13.1 miles so people won't have to endure for water. Will you join my race?
