Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story!
In March 2016 I was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer, I was 41 years old. I was the only person in my family who had ever had cancer, no family history. I thought I had done everything right by eating healthy and working out, but to my dismay cancer came knocking on my door. My son was 4 years old at the time and I knew I had no other choice but to fight fight fight to get cancer out of my body and pray that it never comes back. I had a double mastectomy (extremely painful), had expanders put into place, went through dose dense 8 rounds of chemo and 7 weeks of radiation. I have learned to live with the pain every day, fear and mental anguish of never knowing if it will come back. To this day I still have a few more surgeries to get through to finish with my reconstruction. It is a long grueling process.
My family and friends were my rock through the entire process and continue to be. I don't know how I would've made it through without their constant support and positivity. I know young women who have lost their battle to breast cancer, and some that are fighting for the lives as we speak. To find a cure would be the ultimate goal, but to have newer medications and surgerical techniques that would not be as invasive would also be tremendous.
Please give what you can. Any amount helps. Thank you so much for your support and understanding with finding a cure for breast canncer.
