BENEFITING: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY-REBUILD MICHIGAN
EVENT: Mighty Mac Swim 2016
EVENT DATE: Sep 05, 2016
I’ve always been naturally in love with the water. Even as a toddler, I was attracted to the pool, and loved going “all the way to the bottom, Mama!”. After 1st level kiddie swim lessons, the instructor suggested that my parents sign me up on a competitive team, and that started my swimming life. I joined the Birmingham YMCA Blue Dolphins and swam with them for 9 years, in addition to swimming on my high school team.
I took an 18 year hiatus from competition, and rediscovered my love of swimming when I decided to do a triathlon in 2006. I joined the Milford Athletic Club USMS team in 2008 and am now also an assistant coach with MAC. I enjoy both the pool season and open water season. I’ve completed two Ironman Triathlons, the 5K and 10K at Swim to the Moon, and twice completed the 10 mile distance at Kingdom Swim.
I work at Bosch, in engineering for powertrain components. Gary and I married in 2013 at Run Woodstock after he completed the 100-miler. We share our home with three cats, two dogs and a leopard gecko.
It’s a great pleasure to raise funds for Habitat for Humanity. I am thankful for all I have been blessed with, and the aspect of this event focused on helping others makes it very special. We are having a positive impact on our state and community.
Thanks to all who supported me last year and who support me in 2016!
