Mission accomplished! The Three Amigos: Peter Medina, Alvaro Cruz and myself started the journey Saturday morning at 7:30am meeting by the George Washington Bridge in NYC riding 247 miles in 20 hours and arriving in Boston Sunday afternoon at 2:30pm. It was an incredible experience. We felt your presence with us which gave us the strength to finish. As of today I am pleased to report that we have raised about $15,000 funds are still trickling in. The proceeds will go towards the establishment of The Gerald Iza Computer Lab as well as expanding programs at The Open Door. On behalf of the Luis and Maggie Iza I want to thank you all for you support! You were all with us on this journey!

Many of you have been following us on Facebook and read our updates. I was in the middle of writing a more detail trip report but don’t think I will finish tonight. If you are interested in reading the detailed version of the trip send a reply back to this email and I‘ll send it to you when its complete.

The ride is on. Hurricane Arthur will pass and leave us great weather. Tomorrow morning I will be leaving my house in New Jersey at 6:30am and ride across the George Washington Bridge to meet my two friends Pedro and Alvaro they will be accompanying me on this journey to Boston. The plan is to get to the Boston Post Road (Route 1) in the Bronx and take it all the way to our destination. We’ll be riding 170 miles the first day spending the night outside of Newport, RI and continue the next day for 60 miles into Boston. We hope to arrive in Boston Sunday afternoon.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each one of you for your support to this worthy cause. Thanks to your support we have exceeded our goal by 6% and raised $10,600. We have yet to count the donations that are arriving in the mail.

The Bike2Boston fund raiser was just a crazy idea when it was first brought up in September of last year and now it’s becoming reality. It started out as a brainstorming session with the question “what can we do to help expand TOD” which led to the answer - how about a bike ride to Boston. A little doubt set in - let me think about it and we’ll see and I can’t do it alone I’ll need to recruit a few riders. Finally at the beginning of this year I said let’s do it and that my friends was history.

As we were weeks away from the event a tragedy occurred. Gerald Iza the son of the founders of TOD Luis and Maggie Iza was tragically killed at the age of 36. It was decided that we will use this event in memory of him. It never ceases to amaze me that when tragedy occurs everyone around show their love and support. This is truly a blessing!

Sincerely,
Moses Lee
