Running through the cold...

ORGANIZER: MARIO LEMIEUX FOUNDATION
EVENT: Pittsburgh Marathon 2017
EVENT DATE: May 07, 2017
First of all, THANK YOU for even considering donating to this tremendous cause and the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
Now onto my rationale. If you know me (most of you do), I tend to not do anything without being 100% sure of all the possible impacts and outcomes that can result from the idea. I always think things through until I drive my family and friends (specifically my wife, mom, and dad) crazy enough to just say, "Just do it, Ray!" This time is not one of those times. I didn't talk to Jenny (I could have, but she was out shopping) or call my mom and dad for advice (I tried, but they didn't answer). This is me, and it's going to be my way of helping out.
Why now? Why cancer? I even hate typing that word "cancer". It's encompassing my world. I can't stand it. I have family and friends that are dealing with this disease themselves or supporting those that are. I feel terrible for how this is impacting those around me, so I'm going to run. Run for those that are scared but fierce, weak but strong, drained but persevering, tired but awake, and those that are supporting someone else.
If you can't donate, I still appreciate your support.

I love you all! Take care!

The Mario Lemieux Foundation is dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and patient care, as well as Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative that creates playrooms for children and families in medical facilities. The Mario Lemieux Foundation was created in 1993 by hockey legend Mario Lemieux. In that year, Mario was enjoying the greatest season of his brilliant career and on pace to establish a new NHL scoring record. Then he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease.
After a successful battle with Hodgkin's, Mario is now 23 years cancer free and his experience led him to focus on ways to assist those not so fortunate. He devotes much of his time to the Foundation raising funds to help reach the ultimate goal: a cure for cancer.
Thank you for your support!
