BENEFITING: MINDS MATTER
My name is Marisol Felix-Oropeza, a young girl with big dreams for my future. I come from a low income family and will be the first to attend college. My mother is a single mother to three children and had a really hard life. I spent most of my child hood with my grandparents because my mother had to work to provide a better life for us . My grandparents along with my uncle and aunt helped my mother when she had to go out and work. They are the ones that have always supported us and pushed us to do the best in school. My grandparents earned us calling them mom and dad because through out our whole life they have been a huge help. From taking us to our first day of school to giving us a loving and supporting home. My family has done so much for me and my way of saying thank you is by doing the best I can in school and not only for them but because I want to be some one big in life. I want to be able to pay them all back. I am a part of a great program that gives opportunities and preparation for those like me. I have gotten accepted to the Browns Pre- College summer program but unfortunately it is outside of our Minds Matter budget. This program was the one that interested me the most because I think it is a huge opportunity for me to find out more about what I really wish to study.
