THE STORY:

Marisol is a 41 year old female born with Spinal bifida among other disabilties. Marisol has recently been removed of her home of 40 years due to circumstances beyond her control and torn away from the adoptive parents and comfort she's always known. Fortunately, Marisol is now in her new home. But it is with extreme sadness I admit I feel as I observe her painful transition emotionally and the adjustment to her new enviorment. At times she seems displaced searching for a spot to fit in, but the tiny spaces in her new home impede her from being free in what little freedom she has in her wheelchair. Given the circumstances it has become near impossible to build an extension that would accomodate her needs. At the moment the conditions to simply walk her to the bathroom poses a serious risk of falling. Furthermore, she takes most of her showers at the local recreation center because of its handicapped access. You see Marisol had all of her accomodations in her prior home but her parents aged and she was forced out despite all efforts by county and biological mother to keep her there until the home was equipped. Still, the family insisted she be out even sooner than courts ordered and Marisol was pushed into a situation out of her control. Thankfully Marisol is accepting of the situation and though she misses her adoptive parents dearly and was unable to say goodbye to her father who passed away recently she is doing her best to readjust to her new life. We as her family hope to be able to provide Marisol with a room and bathroom that accomodates her basic needs at the very least. A room she calls her own and not a sofa in the living room she's been sleeping on. A bathroom she can shower and enjoy as she was used to without feeling the shame of bathing in public due to lack of access at her new home. Please help Marisol as she transitions into her new life, new journey and new identity. You may follow us on facebook on marisols journey home. Thank you for your support and remember no contribution is too small. Everything is appreciated!
