EVENT DATE: Apr 07, 2017
This is my first fundraiser with CASA of Santa Barbara county. I am jump roping 254 minutes in 30 days for 254 volunteers to help make a positive impact in a foster child's life by donating to CASA of Santa Barbara county.
For every minute I jump rope, I ask that you donate 1 dollar to this cause. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provide a powerful voice for abused and neglected children in our community. Each year, about 700 children in Santa Barbara county alone - half under the age of 6 - become victims of abuse and/or neglect by their parents. Every day, judges decide the future of these children in a court system that is too overburdened to focus adequately on the needs of each individual child.
Volunteer CASA's prevent children from being re-abused by helping move them as quickly and as safely as possible through the child protective services and court systems and into safe, permanent homes. Far too many children are finding themselves mentally, physically, and/or sexually abused, scared, and neglected in unfathomable situations without anyone to speak up for them every single day. CASA volunteers spend quality time with these children to get to know them and to remind them that they have a voice, and are loved and cared for. When these children have a CASA volunteer, they are significantly less likely to be re-abused and to move out of foster care more quickly, and safely. They are also less likely to return to foster care.
As a member of the CASA team, I am dedicated to making a real change in the lives of these children in foster care. Join me by making a small donation today! Thank you on behalf of CASA, and more importantly, on behalf of our children
